It’s all about Dubai!! September 11, 2008

Dubai is becoming the favorite destination for “fashion” high stand or “too over” vacations (How can we call this place? Fashion Disneyworld? How come there is still people starving in the world with so much money to fry???). But… whatever… it’s there and somehow, we must confess, WE LIKE IT A LITTLE BIT. All the grand fashion designers are betting on participating in the construction of a new hotel concept that goes beyond the confort or simple luxury… it’s all about BRANDS… all in Dubai… and all at the same time.

……………

BACCARAT

Baccarat Hotel and Residences to Dubai’s ever growing portfolio of hotels. Called Dubai Pearl is made up of retail, hotels, residences, and commercial components and is located right at the foot of the Palm Jumeriah. This Baccarat will open in 2011 and have 342 hotel rooms, plus residences which will all be decorated in Baccarat style, a Baccarat boutique, and hopefully Baccarat’s B Bar.  The whole project is due to cost around $680 million dollars.

…………..

ELIE SAAB

September, 2009… opening of the first hotel-boutique designed by the lebanese Elie Saab. Located at Tiger Woods Dubai, the idea is reflecting Elie’s luxury vision. With 360.000 square meters, it’s gonna have 14 bungalows and 89 suites and a Tiger Woods golf course. Elie Saab, and a Dubai government-owned company, Tatweer, launched a 163- million dollar project.

………….

ARMANI

Who dares to be at the last floor room in this 610 meters tower (need some SOMA Mr. Giorgio???) ? In a deal closed in 2004, Giorgio Armani S.p.A. and EMAAR Hotels & Resorts LLC agreed to develop a unique series of international ‘Armani Hotels and Resorts’ the highest commercial tower in world in under construccion in the middle  of Burj Dubai. 160 rooms, a deluxe restaurant and a wellness center shall reflect Armani’s concept of hospitality. This one is for around the end of this year!!!

SINK is gonna try to make some charity and after that go and check which one deserves your special presence!!!

One of the coolest trends this season, the wellington boots (  “galochas”, turma) pave their way to becoming a definitive part of smart girls wardrobe. Whether your homeland is rainy Glasgow or sunny Rio, it doesn’t matter, make sure to grab ASAP your own pair of originals Hunter – the classic ones, set over 150 years ago and appointed by Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth. They’re reeeeeally but REALLY charming and if you’re a festival babe, yes, they’ve designed a range specially for you!

What to do in Mykonos at night? Cavo Paradiso, Paradise Club… blah blah blah… You are going to find decadent parties unless you are lucky enough to catch a special night booged by a great DJ . If not, at least try to have fun! We did! Ramrod is a small gay club at Taxi Square. Every night funny strip tease shows, drag queens (D-I-V-I-N-E-S), Madonna’s best videos in a huge screen and cheap drinks!

Soma likes it…

Greece: the land where nothing grows September 9, 2008

What happens to Greece? Come on… I had the weirdest experience going to Mykonos in the end of August. Windy, wrong informations, bad food (even paying 80 euros per person) rude people and a wonderful freezing sea. Here are some pictures - the best I could get that don’t express the experience in a land where nothing grows but grapes (and I couldn’t find “at least” a regular wine). As my dear aunt said with her bad English : “Greece any-more“.

SAMMY IS BAAAAACK!!
