… after Carnival.
Rio is surrending… February 19, 2009
In response to Miami’s Winter Music Conference, which some people sort of had enough considering to be too-party-little-business-oriented (we love it!) these days, Ibiza hosted its first International Music Summit last June.
It gathered club owners and djs from all over the world for a week of business-focused conversations, information exchange and, of course, dancefloor extravaganza, as it leaded straight into the official opening season.
Based on that…
… and being a country of professional party people, Brazilians have proudly kicked off yesterday its very own dance music world meeting: Rio Music Conference. The place couldn’t be better, our lindo Rio de Janeiro, and the date is the most appropriate possible: three days before Carnival going into the party holiday, of course. The Venue? Fresh and windy Marina da Glória.
Rio, however, is not known for its busy club scene; it’s, in fact, quite the opposite. Rio is beach, Rio is sun, Rio is daylight. Signs of surrender?
Pete Tong, David Guetta, Erick Morillo, Van Burren, Brasil’s finest Gui Boratto, lots of seminars and workshops are lined up for the days that follow. And, of course, loads of parties on and off conference.
Lego Girls February 18, 2009
It all indicates that we are living the 80′s revival in many aspects. The supercool web The Coolhunter just published a report about the Lego Revival with lots of informations about the new Lego epidemy.

Very nice… very normal… But, this is Kinderland… the land of bizarre… so, we decided to put some pepper on the illustration of this trend. We found those pictures to inspire big guys to use Lego again… jeje…

How cool it is to have friends-djs who send you mixes every now and again. And the best part’s that they know your taste…

Rod Maya, good fella from Rio, lives in Ibiza… INSIDE Dalt Villa. Great personality, excellent music taste, he gave up minimal - thanks God! – and is back to our house – where he shouldn’t have left even for 5 minutes. If you like it, drop him a message saying: “I want the tree in the middle of the street.” He’ll get it. And you, my friend, you may get another great one. One of SinK’s favourite!
Give it a go:

Going slightly deeper underground – maybe due to his paulistas roots – another wicked mix by also Brazilian, either a good mate, Rodrigo Brinko. As the first Rod, he spends half year on the white isle, half year in Brasil playing around during the summer. With perfect technic – Brinko’s a natural – he hosts a show on Ibiza Global Radio every weekend, and you can listen online . Not yet Saturday night? Stop biting your nails. Keep it up, guys! x

Cooking books, cool t-shirts, caps, tattoos, memory card games, towels, diaries and many other fashion things are what the brand Santa Fu intends to sell…

Till now all normal if it wasn’t the fact that Santa Fu is one of the most famous penitentiaries in Germany and it’s all designed by the interns. After a dramatic revolt there, they created an example of liberal prison system to stimulate the interns to create and feel more productive, giving a real reinsertion opportunity after the accomplishments of the penalty.

So… “made in prison” became cult. You can buy it all on the Internet. Seems a nice example for us… don’t you think?

Thanks “Zule” for this cool information. More crazy stuff at http://internazuleika.blogspot.com/
(Mis)behave yourself! Carnival is here! February 11, 2009
In Brasil, Carnival has always been the perfect excuse for all kinds of misbehaviour, so…
…free your mind, release the preasure and let yourself goooooo…. yeepee!!!
Needless to say much about that – you should bare in mind, however, that it’s a continental country.
Therefore:
Carnival in Bahia is very different from
Carnival in Rio which has nothing to do with
Carnival in the South.
We’ll help you out, kids:
Bahia = crap axé music, people in the streets (a lot of people in the streets, millions of people in the streets) “trios-eletricos”, singers and groups on the top of a truck getting the crowd totally insane
Rio = samba schools, the infamous huge parade, some street parties, Banda de Ipanema, traditional costume parties in hotels. Old school kinda Carnival. Cool.
South = electronic parties (no samba whatsoever), packed clubs, top djs everywhere getting the people absolutely insane, Tum ts tum ts tum…
Have a look at what Warung has prepared for the five craziest days on Earth:

And more at Pacha Floripa (Guetta, Morillo, Van Burren and Tocadisco); Green Valley (Morillo, Dave Seaman, Kaskade and Steve Angello) and P12 (Pete Tong and Tocadisco).
Check their webs for more info and have fun!
May the force be with you …
I have flowers in my head February 11, 2009
Accesorizing this summer, we found the same everywhere: flowers in the hair in any occasions. Quite charming, isn’t it?
By the way… pretty nice party at P12 - Jurerê, on the party island of Florianópolis, where those pics were taken!
