“Music-a non stop-a” April 21, 2009

Former duo at the infamous (and nervous) party La Troya on Wednesdays nights at Space, Catalan DJ Oliver and Italian performer Baby Marcelo now join forces for a new adventure on our beloved white isle. The Face of Ibiza hits the world’s biggest club, Privilege, every Saturday from 20th June. Very likely to be this summer’s craze. Good luck, chicos!

SinK wants to know: what’s the FACE OF IBIZA for you?

“ET” girl? No, “IT” girl! April 21, 2009

From trouble-girl to fashion diva, Drew Barrymore is rocking the red carpets at every premiere of her latest movie “Grey Gardens”. Trends like hippie chic and cabaret/1920′s  along with a great smile and upbeat personality are turning her on the it girl of the moment. Fashionista or not, she’s indeed a cool chick, isn’t she?

Sónar 2009 goes back to basics April 17, 2009

If you’re reading this post right now, blame Sónar. The Festival Internacional de Música Avanzada y Arte Multimedia de Barcelona was the birthplace of what is today Soma in Kinderland. Viva el Sónar!!! It’s our favourite festival of all and not only for that. Those who’ve been, know it’s unique in all conceptions.  The inspiration for this year’s edition is snow and surrealism. The line up is more electronic than ever, with recent announced master Carl Craig, classic Orbital making a comeback, Deadmau5, Jeff Mills, Erol Alkan and Grace Jones, herself, to name but a few. A space for kids, SónarKids, makes its début, as attendees to the festival over the past 16 years have grown and reproduced. We saw lots of kids last year and the year before during Sónar de Día at MACBA.

According to our Italian mates who make it all happen, the kids attraction will include renowned Spanish and international artists who will adapt their styles to their younger audience, with numerous activities to awaken and stimulate their creativity. SónarKids is designed for children to learn by enjoying music and art in a way that they probably haven’t done yet. Sónar has taken its audience into account, and will be using a sound system suitable for children’s hearing, as well as installing a range of facilities (play area, picnic area, bar) so that both parents and children can rest and enjoy the SónarKids experience in full comfort.

And the circuit off-Sónar is already shaping up. More info coming up, kids. Meanwhile, check Sink‘s very first post (and one of our fave, we must admit) on Sónar 2008.

Windows April 16, 2009

More cool examples of visual merchandising sent by our dearest coolhunter in Barcelona, Chris Ortigoza. Upside-down window,  feels-like-home window, vertical windows, animal-friendly windows…windows, windows, windows: you’re no longer the same…

Mamma, blame Sasha (updated!) April 14, 2009

It started with an inspiring moon turning the sea into a silver bay. Then, there were the bunnies (lovely, lovely) giving away chocolate eggs with friendly wishes of Happy Easter at the entrance… and it was almost possible to hold the feeling with our hands. You know when you feel it’s gonna be good?  I’ve seen Sasha’s gigs before and never really got caught up by his music.  Now, I’m friends with Sasha, the Welsh. What he made was pure alchemy, never seen or heard anything similar. Mild music, even mellow at the end, beautiful. There’s something about that guy. And we all agreed at the end, after a 7-hour incredible set: He’s just NOT a regular bloke – even though, as pretty much every dj who plays at Warung, he  also didn’t want to go… His manager: “Man, you just have to. Even if I need to carry you, you are taking the flight.” And so he quietly did, with those mysterious and tired eyes – those, which are definitely not a mirror to that soul.

Chess for Kids April 13, 2009

Chess is the sport now directed to the development of the kids as good citizens. More or less like medicine or therapy. Teachers say that it incentivates loyalty and tolerance… and that’s what we need to live in this crazy world. So, in Bogota (Colombia is a country that really incentivates cultural programs) they are practicing all around, taught by public teachers in different assistance programs. How about putting your kids on chess classes? Ever thought about it? Mine will go, for sure!

Pillowfight! April 8, 2009

Pillowfight!!! Pillowfight!!! It happened all around the world, in cities like Washington, Caracas, London, New York, Paris, Stockholm, Sydney, Vancouver, Toronto, Vienna, SãoPaulo and Curitiba, aiming to celebrate the “World Pillowfight Day” (oh…bless the inventive people!) . Here it took place at Praça Santos Andrade, organized by a group called Curitiblogs, bloggers from Curitiba. Seems a funny approach, don’t you think?

And how about making your very own version of “Harder Better Faster Stronger”? http://www.najle.com/idaft/. Our  lovely mate Zora sent the link saying it’s “uma delícia”. We totally agree.

PRECAUTION: Please, make sure to have your headphones on, kid. :)
