Dutch Winter August 22, 2009

Again… winter comes in black and red.

These are Claudia Strater’s window displays in Amsterdam. She’s a very cool designer from The Netherlands, spreading out  her pieces all around Europe. If you like this little sample, check out her complete collection. We recommend!

Sexy pin up August 20, 2009

Fashion has never witnessed so many bras and corsets out in the streets. Letting your underwear out is one of the sexiest and most  outrageous trends of the moment. Bibian Blue is a one off store in the heart of Barcelona’s coolest hood, El Raval that sells amazing handmade corsets and all kinds of glamour wear for ladies who dare.

More ideas of how to bring your undies out on Thais Glittah’s The Clash. In Portuguese.

Tara McPherson August 19, 2009

Tara McPherson is an artist born in San Francisco but raised in LA. Her art is  “all about people” in their odd ways (one of the reasons why we love her work). Her characters are innocent and recall issues from childhood and good old life experiences, or just go deep into kids immaginative mind. On the other hand, the images can be very provokative  and seductive.

We had the pleasure to have Tara in Curitiba in a very cosy exhibition at Kitinete Bar. Besides talking to her, we could appreciate in depth her work and find out that she’s  not only a talented girl, she’s beautiful, lovely and has a very good vibe (reasons why we like her even more now!).

Special thanks to our dear friend Ludi (Luiz Maingué) who got us the postcard with a personalised little drawing by Ms. McPherson! Yep, SinK  was there to cover the exhibition but we got so thrilled that we totally forgot to ask for more than a simple signature, what Ludi kindly did. We get very high with a little help from our friends!

The Auteurs August 17, 2009

The Auteurs

“Two years ago we started a venture called The Auteurs, an online cinematheque with a curated catalogue of independent films. Since its launch, the site has grown substantially. We formed strategic partnerships with Criterion Collection and Celluloid Dreams to get the best content. We also partnered with the World Cinema Foundation, headed by Martin Scorsese, and today users can watch for free a selection of restored titles by the foundation.  Our members are viewing, rating, and commenting on our films daily. Visitors to The Auteurs come from all over the world, reaching over 410.000 visits from 193 countries in June 2009. “

Log in to www.theauteurs.com and find out more! It’s like a cinema-focused-social-media-tool, with all 2.0 features that a good website must have. User-friendly and creative, just as we like. SinK recommends!

What if it starts raining again? Pt. 2 August 17, 2009

If it starts raining again, drop by Fortnum & Mason, one of London’s most traditional stores ( in Piccadilly since 1707!!!), and grab your exclusive F & M Hunter wellies. The light green ones.

Keep it deep… and lovely August 15, 2009

The mix is inspired by the early hours of a deep club night, when the magic is going to be built up and everything is open. I selected old and new all-time faves, deep and danceable – just lovely music.”

Enough said, now go for it: http://www.residentadvisor.net/podcast-episode.aspx?id=161
One of the best deep house mixes SinK has listened to in quite a while.
Thank you R.A. for bringing back our hope in dance music.
Have a deep and lovely weekend everyone.

Tara in Curitiba
We love Tara McPherson because her art is cutting edge, avant garde, creatively off beat and absolutely gorgeous! Crazy and inspiring images that make us dream… they actually look like dreams: a bit non-sense, a bit mysterious.  Tara rocks and she’s gonna be in our city. Yeah! Yeah! Shall we go for an autograph?
