Enough Photoshop! November 30, 2009

Now they got the point! Photoshop is soooo over! Peter Lindbergh photographed stars like Sophie Marceau without makeup for French Elle and now he’s saying it’s time for photoshopped images to disappear. He refers to the images as “objects from Mars.” In a New York Times article, Peter Lindbergh says that over a period of years, photoshopping has taken too large a part in how women are defined. “Heartless retouching,” he wrote, “should not be the chosen tool to represent women in the beginning of this century.” Lindbergh created a series of covers for French Elle that pictured stars Monica Bellucci, Eva Herzigova and Sophie Marceau without makeup or retouching. In France, this led to an outcry of support where health officials were already trying to force magazines to publish when and how an image was altered.

In this universe of wearable technology, the heartbeat necklace is one of several biometric projects developed by designer/engineer duo Vanessa Carpenter and Dzi. The necklace itself is made from a custom circuit board with a container in the back that houses the battery and a receiver.  A heart rate monitor sends the signal to the necklace which blinks out the heart rate. Beautiful!

Heineken Experience November 30, 2009

Very well-aligned with global macrotrends such as experience, happiness and premium packaging, this “museum” (well, they don’t want to be called a museum, to begin with)  is a very cool way to offer a unique “Heineken Experience“. They’re focused on showing the art of drinking beer, teaching all about the legendary Heineken family in four levels of interactive experiences. The World Bar, Bottle Your Own Heineken, Heineken Sports, Gallery and Innovation Station are only some of the areas that you can visit. Here are some pics for your delight:

Don’t miss it on your next visit to A’dam! The Heineken Experience is at Stadhouderskade, 78.
