A Treehouse December 7, 2010

“A treehouse! A promise of adventure for the kids, a retreat for the adults, a romantic hideaway close to nature. These special little dwellings installed up among the trees fire our imagination and rouse our curiosity, bringing back childhood memories, and with them the desire to climb up and enter a magic world amongst the foliage. To be spellbound again, to witness the different sights and sounds up there by day and night and throughout the seasons. To play up there, to work undisturbed, to relax, to daydream…”

Ich liebe Berlin October 13, 2010

We had a bunch of friends out and about in Berlin this summer. They went clubbing, they went sightseeing, they had an absolute fantastic time. And, also, they witnessed one of iconic’s Bar 25 last bashes ever (a “night” that lasted three whole days, how about that?). Some say Berlin is the new New York, that the German capital means to culture – and specially to dance music – what NY was back in the 1980s. We don’t like comparisons very much, as each place has its very own history. We do, however, love Berlin, because it’s still (and finally) a FREE city, and if there’s something Soma in Kinderland loves and dies for it is FREEDOM! So, let’s raise our glasses and make a toast for this land and these people that deserve to have fun. And let’s pay our visit to Berlin asap, because propably it won’t last forever.  (We haven’t named our company after this amazing place for nothing, hum?) Click to enlarge:

If you want to experience Berlin as a true Berliner and get the most of this super trendy town, Taschen editors have published a guide to enjoy the best of the city. It’s 402 pages of recommended hotels, shops, restaurants, cafés, bars and, of course, nightclubs.

As always, very good pictures, the tastiest cuisine recommendations, the hippest, most intriguing stores, and the best accommodations are all listed. You also get a pocket-size map of the Berlin streets.

You can also find London, New York and Paris guides to a truly insider experience!

Friedrichshain, East Berlin is fast becoming a hotbed for creative talent. The relocation of Universal Studios and MTV’s European HQ’s to the area can vouch for that. No coincidence then the newly opened Michelberger Hotel is located there. The Michelberger offers a boutique, concept hotel to offer those who care about good design a place for the night.

Located in a landmark industrial building that feels like you’re staying at your best mates stylish city pad, the hotel is fun, stylish and individual. With rates starting at 59 EUR per night, dreamers, movers and shakers, lovebirds, soul searchers, artists, craftspeople, globetrotters and Berlin aficionados alike can enjoy this Friedrichshain gem, which hopes to become a Berlin landmark for young and young at heart.  What matters, after all, is inner beauty.

Frankfurt’s Flies November 6, 2009

To promote their exhibition stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the publisher Eichborn prepared 200 flies with an ultra light banner attached  to them with natural wax. After a short time, the banner dropped off by itself.

 (No flies were harmed.)
