She’s chic, she’s cool, she’s stylish  and – if it wasn’t enough – she’s a skilful deejay.
(Say “whoop whoop” because today’s her birthday! \o/)

 I am a DJ
I live in a musical world
I do enjoy life
I listen to house and jazz
I love yoga & organic food
I hate being hungry and cold
I’d like to travel around the world
I should spiritualize more
I’ll never steal
I’ll  take chewing gum on my trip to Kinderland.

Grammys February 1, 2010

Basically, what we liked about the Grammys last night was:

Gaga's green Armani Privé

Gaga's silver-star Armani Privé (can't help but wonder how did she get to actually sit down)

Silver! Silver! Silver!

Girls' mohawks!

Nice pic of Lady Gaga and Sir Elton

Deevinyl! November 4, 2009

The resurgent vinyl market isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. In fact, recent figures released by Nielsen SoundScan indicate that overall U.S. vinyl sales will once again set a benchmark in 2009, with sales up 50% through the first five months of the year.  SoundScan predicts vinyl sales will reach 2.8 million units in 2009, up from 1.9 million in 2008, a record since SoundScan began tracking sales data in 1991. Already in 2009, vinyl sales have topped 1 million. Rock albums account for 70% of all vinyl sold, but country vinyl is enjoying a growth spurt. Year-to-date country vinyl sales are already at 15,000 copies, compared with 5,000 for the comparable period in 2008.  (Words: Todd Martens)

Flowers & Poetry in the land of freedom October 23, 2009

For those who don’t know, this song is a huge classic of Brazilian (counter)culture, being released in 1968, during the terrible militar dictatorship that ended in 1984. The lyrics by Geraldo Vandré are a true poem against the violence and censorship imposed to several artists, including himself, at the darkest period of Brazilian recent history. The song, called “Pra Não Dizer Que Não Falei das Flores”, won an international music contest in the same year despite its prohibition for allegedly  being “disrespectful to the military government”.  Luciano and Ricardo Villalobos played this remix at Cocoon closing party, last month at Amnesia, Ibiza. Goose bumps. Via Daniel Kuhnen.

And we’ve recently (a couple of hours ago, actually) found out the real and amazing story behind this tune. Check this out:
