Summer fashion: Rayas y Florcitas August 5, 2010

Summer in Europe can be summed up in two trends: horizontal stripes and Liberty floral.

Swedish girls love stripes / Topshop

Diesel / Zara

Zara still bets on light blue denim sometimes with a flowerish touch

Zara Gran Via

And, of course,  lingerie-like denim dresses are everywhere. (meninas, o detestável BOJO!!!)

Zara

Conclusion: when Inditex believes in a trend you get sick of it in, like, 48 hours. Liberty floral is just everywhere! It’s cute and feminine… but it’s tiring. Stripes are classic and cool and we just can’t possibly get enough of Chanel and Audrey Hepburn’s charm.

Rip your denim … and please, DIY! Style says so and Bristols 6′s sells a cool kit to do it, with all you need to in one handy package: hem tape for length, an extra button, a seam ripper and pumice stone for distress-less distressing, studs, stencils, paint, tips and tricks.

They are tired of cars and war, now fashion is getting into an equestrian mood. Go style.com

But… how to make it wearable?  We found a formula by Christine Stoddard at ehow:

1- Choose classy colors: Navy, black, burgundy, gray, white, ivory, dark green, antique rose, and various shades of brown. These colors all match each other very well.

2- Search for the right tops: Collared shirts with pastoral-themed patterns are ideal. The patterns should be subtle, just small to medium sized. Fitted cardigans with a little bit of stretch. You can layer the cardigans over printed blouses or ribbed tees or camisoles.

3- Find flattering straight-leg pants: Well-tailored jeans, khakis, and corduroys are the perfect pants. Try leggings, too (just be sure to wear a longer top over them for extra coverage).

4- Wear simple, elegant jewelry: Also consider wearing elaborate belt buckles to pair with leather belts.

5- Sport pretty boots: Look for sleek leather or suede boots that reach at least mid-calf. Always pull the boots over your pants to show their full length. If you would prefer not to wear boots on certain days, you can also search for loafers, moccasins, or printed tennis shoes.

Et, voila!!!

See Sónar 2010 June 23, 2010

What is Sónar? “Sónar is a three day event that focuses on advanced music and multimedia art. Which translates to: a bunch of music-types fly out to Spain once a year, get completely wasted whilst listening to amazing dance music in the sunshine. Sounds good to us…” Great definition, The Line of Best Fit.

Style.com ’s shopping guide is all about mix of patterns – mostly plaid and flowers, altogether.

Marc Jacobs

Ufff… hard mix, but very well done by Marc Jacobs and Spanish designer Maite Muñoz from Lebor Gabala. By the way, this post is more about introducing Lebor, an amazing brand from Barcelona. They’re always one step ahead when it comes to trends. Check their web and see with your own eyes what we mean by being truly avant-garde.

Bloody tights! January 15, 2010

Dark tights were  and obligatory  complement in many of  Autmn/Winter 2010 collections around the fashion globe. Chanel, however, decided to push things a little bit further by adding some colour to our legs. Red tights are the new must and you can see them in almost every window display of the brand:

It’s not only Chanel that fell for the blood-toned legs, though. Balenciaga and Celine bet on the red tights for Pre-Fall 2010. Go buy a pair. Now!

Richly.Hawtin December 2, 2009

Richie Hawtin and fashion designer Isolde Richly present their own fashion label, Richly.Hawtin, which explores the principles of minimalist design, where, according to both,  fashion and music overlap. It was established in Tokyo in 2008 by Richie and Isolde, inspired by their shared love of Japanese culture and design and the harmony found within.

The origin of the project stretches back 6 years to a chance meeting at Club d’Visionaire in Berlin where their mutual fascination with Japan quickly developed into a special friendship. In 2007, after studying fashion design in Berlin and graduating with distinction, Isolde Richly moved to Japan to realise her dream.

Hawtin’s globetrotting DJ schedule meant their paths still regularly crossed, but against the highly charged backdrop of Tokyo their brainstorming crystallised into something far more potent and a formal partnership emerged to explore the common ground of their creative minds.

Richly sheds some light on where their tastes merge by highlighting a specific influence on their collaboration; “One thing which was in both our hearts was a photo book by Michael Kenna about Japanese landscapes – All in grey tones.. snow.. a calm sea.. one tree – pictures that reflected an amazing stillness and the magical beauty of nature and it’s this beauty we’ve tried to capture and convert into clothes.”

With a limited run of 100 T-shirts, designed and manufactured in Japan, Richie Hawtin and Isolde Richly launched their fashion line at the Apartment store in Berlin in May 2009.

Alexander Wang’s show at New York Fashion Week last week. Pretty girls in abused hair..

Erin Wasson: undo it!

And Wang again: braids are hot.

Despite the look, an undone hair style can be quite difficult to achieve. It’s like a precisely calculated mess.  Don’t worry, though. As for pretty much everything in this world, the right products can help.
